I first joined 286 Fitness in April 2017. I am 34 years old guy and a novice when it comes to fitness. I am the type of person who walks into a gym and I have no idea what I am doing. I previously was a member of a local gym and felt I received no beneficial gain except a nice swimming pool and a nice TV when I got on a treadmill.
I didn’t stay a member of that gym long before realizing I was spending money and not receiving any positive fitness gains. I had heard of crossfit gyms but I felt overwhelmed thinking I was too out of shape to even consider such a gym. All the people I have seen on TV were on a whole different fitness level and I thought there was no way I could participate until I was in much better shape.
I had heard of a few friends who were crossfit members and they told me I should look into it and would have a lot of fun in the process. I really did not believe them but over the years it did peak my curiosity. After a while, I saw an ad on Facebook about a new crossfit gym that was opening just a short walk away from where I lived! I was quite a bit nervous but I really wanted to make a change in my life to get in shape. I decided to send the owner a message to introduce myself and peak my curiosity!
Al responded back to me really fast and we had a dialogue for a good week before I felt comfortable enough to check out the gym. He answered all of my ridiculous questions and concerns. I came in person and spoke to Al for about an hour. I felt out of my comfort zone, but I felt comfortable that this was something I could do even being as out of shape as I was. I signed up right there on the spot and committed to trying it. My first week, I was nervous. I felt out of my comfort zone before I came in for my first class, but I was shocked when everyone was welcoming to me! I felt at home, with a new group of friends, who wanted to see me succeed.
When I did something stupid, I was never once laughed or yelled at. I was given beneficial instruction to make sure I had the right form to do it again. The first week was hard, but I was surprised I could do things I never thought I could accomplish. Every workout could be scaled to my fitness level so I could workout with everyone else at the same time. This is a judgement free zone where they don’t worry about what you wear, they just care about helping you discover your potential.
I discovered a whole new level of confidence than what I thought I could have! I have gained so much self-confidence and have seen so much positive results. I have toned up, lost weight, and turned a lot of fat into muscle. I have a long ways to go, but every week I see improvements. 286 Fitness has changed my life.
I have no desire to be an all American athlete, but I want to be fit, healthy, and improve my life functions. If I can see results and participate, then I am certain anyone can!Book Your Intro
